ABOUT PHIL LAKIN - DISTRICT 8 CITY COUNCILOR

Phil Lakin serves Tulsa every day, entrusted to oversee more than $5 billion in charitable assets through his role as CEO at Tulsa Community Foundation (TCF) and elected six, consecutive times by south Tulsans to serve as City Councilor to represent their interests at City Hall.

Lakin has always made his Tulsa home in south Tulsa – first as a child and Jenks High School graduate, and now as an adult and parent. Phil and his wife of 27 years, Adriane, have three sons, who have been educated, athletes, and leaders in both the Union and Jenks school systems, both serving District 8.

Under Lakin’s 22 years of leadership, Tulsa Community Foundation has grown from the smallest foundation to the second largest, and has donated $3 billion to charities across our community, including those providing animal welfare, social services, arts programming, public safety, and veterans support. TCF managed and built The Gathering Place and ONEOK Field to improve Tulsa’s quality of life and set a bright path for its future.

Lakin was student body president at Baylor University where he earned his BBA and MBA, which he utilizes daily when considering the opportunities that affect the livelihood and well-being of Tulsans. Phil served as board chairman or president of Tulsa Community College Foundation, the Rotary Club of Tulsa, and the Folds of Honor Foundation and as a deacon in his church. Tulsa People named Lakin the Tulsan of the Year in 2013.

Phil loves being outdoors and is one of ~50 individuals who have climbed all 70+ peaks in the continental US that exceed 14,000 feet. Family is vitally important to Phil as well: he has attended the last 40 Indy 500 races, a tradition that his father and he started, which has also included his grandfather and his sons.

Phil Lakin’s focus always has been and will continue to be centered on Tulsa, making it the best place in America to raise a family, do business, and experience opportunities that are second to none.
